While putting together my most recent film, I spent some time re-shooting and processing old and new footage to see how the skyline has grown over the past 3-4 years. Here are some comparison gif files (use the slider to compare):
SCENERY - Austin
Take a fast paced timelapse tour of Austin, the fastest growing city in the United States. Filmed in 2016 and 2017, "SCENERY - Austin" is an independently funded and solo-produced timelapse and hyperlapse project exploring the growing skyline of the flourishing capital of the Lone Star State.
"SCENERY - Austin" is a compilation of highlights from 200+ hours of shooting and 600+ hours of post-production. All motion control was performed manually with hyperlapse techniques (for long-run scenes) or by leveraging my own custom designed and manufactured digital motion control systems (for the short-run scenes).

Odyssey
I'm excited to share Odyssey, a collection of some of my favorite timelapse and hyperlapse scenes I've captured over the past year in Austin, Texas.
The music is courtesy of Home (soundcloud.com/home-2001), a talented producer and composer out of Florida.
Austin Nights
It's been just about a year since I released Riding the Light, and, despite shooting a ton of footage in that time, I hadn't gotten around to releasing another short film. I finally set aside some time this month to put together my latest film, Austin Nights, which I'm both excited and proud to present to you now.
The music is courtesy of yng vapor, a most excellent electronic producer and composer out of Baltimore.
Happy New Year, Austin!
We got cheated out of our big annual New Year's Eve fireworks in Austin due to perceived weather issues, but citizens on the east side certainly didn't let that stop them. As the clock struck midnight a low constant rumble flowed over the Austin landscape, an endless barrage of fireworks shooting up along the entire horizon to the east.
Although the big Butler Park fireworks show was cancelled, it's ostensibly being rescheduled for some other date in the next month or two. Hopefully there will be some better photo opportunities then!
The Lighthouse
Just a super short piece I shot Saturday night during the first UT game of the season vs. UNT.
My seat was well beyond what you would call the nose-bleeds, but I still knew the outcome thanks to our wonderful tower lighting tradition!
Riding the Light
I'm excited and proud to present my new film, Riding the Light, a flying winter journey around downtown Austin. Shot during the winter of 2013-2014, Riding the Light is my third solo hyperlapse cityscape project, building on the techniques I honed in Sleepwalking Austin and Spectral Austin. It is the product of many late nights and early mornings shooting, many numb extremities in the coldest conditions Austin has to offer, and a very great many long hours in front of a computer screen. I hope that you enjoy watching this film as much as I enjoyed creating it -- if you do, I encourage you to share it, especially with any friends who are inbound for SXSW over the coming weeks!
Music courtesy of Draper -- Do It Right from Sonder EP, an excellent release I highly recommend in its entirety.
Life Is Short: Draw It Out

Start Fresh: Never Give Up
The HOPE Outdoor Gallery has truly become a unique treasure of the Austin art scene. What was once an ill fated attempt at building luxury condominiums has been transformed into a playground for serious artists and irreverent taggers alike. The view of downtown Austin from atop Castle Hill (informal name for the HOPE OG) is picturesque, second to no other ground level location in town.
Since the end of Summer 2013 I've visited the HOPE OG every weekend I was able. Over these past few months I've met a lot of great people with strong passions for creating beautiful works of art. These artists were welcoming enough to allow me into their world to spend time shooting footage of them doing what they do best. It has thus far been the most enjoyable shooting experience I've had since I dove headlong into timelapse and hyperlapse photography earlier this year.
I'm looking forward to continuing to work with these folks, as well as meeting new artists to collaborate with. It's my hope that in the process of exercising and demonstrating my own shooting techniques I can bring some additional and well deserved attention to these skilled members of our local Austin art community.

Teaser: America the Bulletfull
In mid-November 2013 a local artist friend of mine, er., let me know he would be painting a solo piece that morning at the HOPE Outdoor Gallery (Castle Hill) in Austin, TX. I was able to film him painting from start to finish, and it made for quite a beautiful shot. I definitely plan to keep working with all the guys and gals at @spratx, so consider this a teaser of things to come!
